I AM NOT A POLITICIAN AND I DON’T BELONG TO ANY POLITICAL PARTY
The last son of the General Overseer (Worldwide) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Leke Adeboye, has declared that he is neither a politician nor belong to any political party.
The clergy, who is also a senior personal assistant to his dad made this known in a chat with Nigerian Tribune newspaper, where he discountenanced reports that he allegedly described the Osun state electorate as fools for voting for the All Progressives Party, (APC), in the inconclusive governorship elections of last Saturday.
Recall that screenshots and posts reportedly from Leke’s social media had shown him criticizing Osun voters who voted for the ruling party.
Leke Adeboye’s purported comment which went viral, detailed: “If you are in Osun and you voted for APC, to be honest, and this is being neutral o, you are a fool”.
While dissociating himself from partisan politics generally and Osun election in particular, the cleric says “I am not a politician and I do not belong to any political party. In fact, I did not participate in the election, so, why would I have condemned anybody or party over the election” the cleric queried.
Advising the general public in the manner of his father, Pastor Enoch Adejare, Adeboye, to always be wary of fake news, he said “I want people to make their verification and even check the whole page and confirm if there is anything relating to that. “Don’t let fake news be the order of the day in our beloved country.
I want to categorically inform the general public that I never made such statement or anything relating to that,” he added.
