Jonathan’s Aide, Anglican Church in Money Laundering Allegation
The Anglican Communion, Otuoke division, Baylesa State is currently enmeshed in a N1.6bn money laundering allegation and is having to explain its degree of involvement.
Also fingered in the alleged crime was a former Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Waripamo-Owei Dudafa, who the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had dragged before Justice Mohammed Idris of a Federal High Court in Lagos.
In his defense, the accused person tried to exonerate himself by revealing that the huge sum of money being investigated by the anti graft body was meant for the Anglican Church in Otuoke, the home town of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
Dudafa argued that Jonathan had told him that the said amount was part of about N6 billion proceed of a launching that was conducted by the Anglican Communion of Otuoke community for the building of St. Stephen’s Youth Development Centre, Otuoke.
The former president, a member and grand patron of the church, facilitated the fundraising which was held in Lagos on March 16, 2013.
