“You Can’t Go Up Except By Tithing” – Oyedepo
Forbes rated richest pastor in the world and founder and of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, has once again reiterated the correlation between giving to God and receiving from Him.
The Bishop while speaking during a sermon on the doctrine and importance of tithing, a topic that has generated heated debate among Bible scholars and commentators declared authoritatively that “you can’t go up except by tithing.”
Oyedepo, whose position on the issue of “seed sowing” and tithing had at different occasions and media been challenged and quarried by popular online personality (OAP) Daddy Freeze and renowned scholars like Pa. Francis Akinnola (https://www.facebook.com/francis.akinnola) and another facebook user, Shalom Olusola Goriola (https://www.facebook.com/shalom.goriola) to mention but a few remained unrepentant about the doctrine of tithing, even as he declared that he now takes his tithe to God in truck loads.
Though not stating clearly the type and number of trailers he engages in “carting” the tithe to God, nor any details of how he pays his tight to Him, Papa as he is fondly called by followers insinuated tithing as the secrete of his wealth.
“You can’t go up except by tithing. From 1982 till date, my tithe hasn’t failed once; now I cart it to God in trailer loads,” he said.
Oyedepo who once described his $150 million rating by Forbes as “ridiculous” disclosed that from tithing, he has continued to prosper on all sides.”
Revealing that pastoring and church planting does not guarantee wealth, the Covenant University chancellor also posited that crookedness should not be the way to prosperity. ”You don’t have to steal to shine, you don’t have to rob to prosper. If it is pastoring/founding a church that makes people prosper, there are many pastors/church founders who are paupers.
